Rongali festival concludes in Guwahati

Dimapur, Feb.5: A three-day mega Rongali festival ended today with thousands of people thronging in Khanpara ground, Guwahati. Traditional boat race at Dighalipukhuri saw more than 120 participants, while an equal number of people experienced flying over Brahmaputra. Intellectuals like Prashanta Rajguru, Mayur Bora and others interacted with tribal leaders of varieties communities at Mising Changhor and discussed about ways of building bridges within various communities of Assam. Tribal leaders suggested that people should visit tourist places like Halflong, BTC areas and others which will bring bridges in true sense. Judima of Dima Hasao said ‘mod’ and other traditional liquor from the various tribal communities were a major attraction. Desi community of Goalpara, an original inhabitant of Assam, showcased their way of life, while Samaguri Sattra, Mati Akhora performed dance form of Ankia Bhaona and Mukha Bhaona. A quiz competition amongst North East colleges was a major attraction. Dima Hasao district got massive attention with their spectacular display. Local entrepreneurs and Agri University students showcased their handloom and handicraft products. A special khadi fashion show was organised alongwith handloom designs of Assam. Meanwhile, Shyamkanu Mahanta, chief organiser, thanked the media for their support. Tridib Sarma, Secretary HRAA and one of the main organiser, informed that the event will be oraganised as an annual event.
