DIMAPUR— The stretch of road from Changtongya towards Longleng along the National Highway-702 (NH-702) will be partially opened to traffic starting on Wednesday, days after the movement of vehicles and public was suspended due to a rockslide.

Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) of Longleng, Throngdiba Tongpi T. Sangtam told Eastern Mirror that one-way vehicular movement along the affected stretch of road will be restored on Tuesday and light motor vehicle (LMV) will be allowed to ply by June 21.

Deputy Commissioner of Longleng, Dharam Raj also updated through a travel advisory that light motor vehicle will be allowed to pass the NH-702 from 6 am to 6 pm with effect from June 21 with the landslide debris on the stretch of road being partially cleared.

It advised drivers to exercise utmost caution while passing through the affected area and avoid taking the route during bad weather/foggy conditions/heavy rainfall as well as not to halt/park their vehicles in and around the landslide-affected areas, which will pose a risk to their lives.

The restriction on movement of heavy vehicles along the Longleng-Changtongya road still stands, until further notice.
