DIMAPUR — Another rock-fall occurred on National Highway 29 in New Chümoukedima, at the stretch popularly known as Pagala Pahar, just a few hundred metres before the section of the highway that was destroyed by a landslide recently.

The latest rock-fall was reported on Tuesday afternoon. Police have managed to clear the road partially and heavy vehicles were being allowed to ply in a staggered manner before nightfall.

A traffic police officer updated Eastern Mirror that the rock-fall occurred at around 2 pm and blocked the road. By 3:20 pm, it was partially cleared.

The officer informed that one-way traffic movement for heavy vehicles in that stretch will be allowed from 4 am till nightfall, that too in a staggered manner where only one vehicle will be allowed to pass at a time.

He stated that they are taking precautions and plying of light vehicles was not advisable as there are rock-falls from time to time in the area. According to the officer, light vehicles won’t be allowed to travel the route until technical safety clearance is issued by NHIDCL.
