Dimapur, Aug. 1 (EMN): Due to heavy rains the roads between Tobu and Mon and Tobu and Tuensang are both totally cut off. The rains have also cut off the road leading to Satoi area in Zunheboto district from the rest of the state.
Reports received here on Wednesday informed that the people of Tobu sub-division are suffering from shortage of food items. Terrace cultivation fields were washed away and some houses were damaged under 55th A/C Tobu, the press release stated.
Meanwhile, Satoi area in Zunheboto distrct is also said to be cut off from the rest of the state. The Satoi town youth organisation (STYO), in a press note informed that the ‘the only life-line connecting 11 villages in the area to other parts of the state has been washed away by landslides and mudslides.’ It also informed that the heavy rains have damage standing crops and paddy fields rendering the farmers in a precarious situation.
The STYO has appealed to the competent authority to expedite the clearance of the road. The organisation has also appealed the concerned authority to provide necessary assistance to the farmers who were affected by floods and landslides as their livelihood depended on their paddy fields.
