Road safety awareness campaign held in Karbi Anglong
DIPHU — As continuation towards spreading awareness on road safety among students, the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) in collaboration with District Press Club of Karbi Anglong (DPCKA) organised an awareness campaign to students of Dillai Higher Secondary School on Tuesday.
Senior journalist, Sonju Bora, said there are various rules and regulations and dos and don’ts of road on safety measures. He said, the pavilion riders and those driving four wheelers should adhere to it, while citing that wearing a helmet is a must for both riders and pillion riders. It is punishable under sections 129 and 194 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988; Bora said and added that while purchasing a helmet it should see that there is an ISI mark on it.
Since most of the students of Dillai Higher Secondary school come to school on foot, the speaker urged students to be cautious while crossing the road.
Secretary, DPCKA, Danielson Bey told the students to follow road signs.
The headmistress, Jayanti Teronpi, also asked the students to be very cautious while walking on the road.
The awareness programme was held at the examination hall.
