Rünguzumi Students’ Union holds 66th general session at Rünguzu Baptist Church.

DIMAPUR — The 66th general session of the Rünguzumi Students’ Union (RSU) was held on Tuesday at Rünguzu Baptist Church, Phek district.
The programme was conducted by dividing participants into four groups at different venues, where resource persons addressed students, parents and youths on key educational and social themes, an update stated.
Sesote-ü Ringa, assistant professor in the Department of Education, Kohima College, spoke on ‘Redefining parental role in today’s education system.’
She highlighted the parental involvement in line with NEP 2020.
Ringa emphasised that parents are a child’s first and last teachers and encouraged nurturing discipline, values and integrity while helping children identify their talents beyond formal education.
Veta Nyienu, associate professor in the Department of Physics, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, delivered a talk on ‘Parenting for purpose: Instilling responsibility, respect and resilience.”
Quoting Proverbs and the biblical parable of the prodigal son, he urged upon the parents to adopt compassionate parenting, avoid harshness and comparisons and encourage children to learn from failures.

Nyienu urged upon the youths to explore entrepreneurship rather than relying solely on government jobs.
Anüzo Vadeo, junior section officer, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, advised students to develop clear and realistic plans by assessing their strengths and weaknesses and exploring diverse opportunities in both public and private sectors.
Sekhosayi Vero, employment officer, Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, spoke on ‘Building a self-reliant generation through skills and innovations.’
He stressed on skill development, entrepreneurship and engagement in skilled and semi-skilled sectors.
Mhasisanuo Vero, post graduate teacher, GHSS Chozuba, spoke on ‘Education` as a tool for empowerment and change,’ highlighting education as a catalyst for social transformation.
Earlier, RSU president Besukhoyi Luruo delivered the presidential address.
During the programme, the revised RSU constitution booklet was officially released by Chizopra Nienu, advisor and former president of RSU.
Meanwhile, the new team of RSU for the tenure 2025-2027 will be led by Müzitolü Vasa as president.
