RMSA teachers claim credit for percentage of good report
Dimapur, May 13 (EMN): A section of the RMSA teachers has sought a point for performance that they asserted was done with ‘dedication and commitment’ even amid “ill treatment” and being ‘looked down’ by the government authorities.
The 2016 batch of the Nagaland RMSA teachers association issued a press release on Monday claiming, among others, that govt. schools’ result in 2016 was at the bottom with an overall pass percent of 32.81% “which is prior to the engagement of RMSA subject teachers.”
“Despite irregular payment and with a fixed amount,” the 2016 batch of RMSA teachers were “delivering (sic) their duties regularly” with dedication.
The govt. reduced their salary and released the “reduced amount” which the teachers said was “totally an insult to the teachers and the honourable courts’ direction.”
The NRMSATA questioned the “credibility of the govt.” for “looking down on the teachers and intentionally committing a blunder by releasing the reduced amount which was against the courts direction.”
In spite of an ongoing legal case against the government of Nagaland for reducing the salary and “demand for the post creation notification” (sic), the RMSA 2016 teachers have been working diligently, the press release stated.
The result of it can be seen in the recently declared high school leaving certificate examination (HSLC) 2019 results, the association claimed.
According to the HSLC results for 2019, the overall pass percent of govt. schools in 2019 has increased by a margin of 2.5% as compared to the previous year’s.
The overall pass percentage of govt. schools in 2019 is 43.32% “which is more than the overall pass percentage of the last 10 years,” the group stated.
“The govt. schools’ result in 2016 dipped at the bottom with an overall pass percent of 32.81% which is prior to the engagement of RMSA subject teachers. After upgradation (sic) of govt. schools, the RMSA subject teachers were appointed in 2016 and consequently the result increased by a margin of 9.79% from 32.81% in 2016 to 42.60% in 2017 overall for govt. schools.”
The association stated further that out of the total 14 govt. schools securing 100% qualified or pass percent, eight are from RMSA-upgraded schools, the press release stated.
According to the association, the RMSA schools that secured 100% include five from Mokokchung district; one each from Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto district.
The association stated that the government high schools of Longjang, Unger and Asükikha “repeated the same feat as they secured 100% in 2018 from among the RMSA upgraded schools,” the group asserted.
Also, there were six RMSA-upgraded schools securing 100% qualified in comparison to the students appeared in the examination viz. government high schools at Moava, Jakhama, Kandinu, Khonoma, Mezoma and Pholary. The NRMSATA acknowledges the teachers for ‘achieving such a feat.’
“It may not be practical on the part of the teachers to continue on their duties without being paid for several months but the faith and hope on judiciary are the only thing that the teachers can look up to for now,” the press release stated.
The association has expressed appreciation for the efforts of the teachers, and expressed confidence that justice would be delivered.
“It is at the behest of the teachers to put more efforts and carry on their duties with sheer dedication and commitment towards educating the future masses in general and the students in particular,” the press release from the teacher stated.
