DIMAPUR — The Nagaland RMSA Teachers’ Association–2016 (NRMSATA-2016) has rejected reports suggesting that the state government had proposed the formation of a committee during its meeting with officials on Thursday.

In a rejoinder issued on after the meeting, the association stated that the claim was “factually incorrect and misleading,” maintaining that no such proposal was placed on the table during the meeting held at the home commissioner’s office in Kohima.

According to the association, government officials only sought more time to deliberate among themselves and come up with proposals for negotiation. “The RMSA 2016 representatives were kept waiting outside,” it stated.

The association clarified that later in the evening, around 5 pm, a ‘casual discussion” took place outside the gate, by the roadside, during which the joint mission director “in an informal manner, mentioned the idea of forming a committee.”

“To portray this offhand remark as an official outcome of the meeting is a clear misrepresentation,” the rejoinder stated, adding that the government did not make any formal proposal nor demonstrate any concrete step toward resolving their grievances.

The association further maintained that it does not agree to the setting up of any such committee. “Our stand is clear—we seek justice through implementation of scale pay, not another layer of delay through committees,” it asserted.
