Dimapur, Feb. 5 (EMN): Riot Games, an American video game developer, has handed down a 12-month ban to top-ranked Valorant pro player Yasin “Nisay” Gök for allegedly cheating during a ranked match.

An official Turkish Valorant esports account announced the ban today, citing an official investigation into the player by Riot Games.

Gök has been dropped by his Valorant team Beşiktaş Esports due to the cheating allegations levied against him. In a tweet, Gök responded with a link to a Twitlonger post where he challenged Riot to provide proof of him using third-party cheat software to cheat on ranked matches.

Here is a google translated version of Yasin “Nisay” Gök’s statement after Riot handed him a 12-month ban:

Greetings,
I have been banned from official matches by VCT for 12 months. First of all, thank you to everyone who supported me in this process. Note that it is said that a 3rd party software is available in a Competitive game. I'm not so stupid enough to cheat just because I am Radiant in a competitive match. They said they did not encounter anything like this at any tournament by Riot. We went through a long time and were constantly exchanging information with riot. When we asked them what 3rd party software etc. would you show us evidence, we were under community pressure and they said they wouldn't. In the previous tweet I posted, you saw that my rank was lowered but my account was not banned. After these events (community edition) they felt the need to ban my account. I personally think I am being wronged, but I cannot do anything against a company like riot.
Just 12 months because of a ban that was banned for suspicion and conversations on the agenda If they had actually detected that I was cheating, a permanent ban would have been applied. Anyone who is sane knows, someone who has cheated will not be banned for 12 months.

First Strike Riot in Turkey offered me after examining me as they could not find anything official. Their screenshot etc. all remain.

I request Riot to show me proof of what the 3rd party software they detected and that it is cheating.

Of course there are / will be people who don't love me or really think I am cheating, but I thank those who trusted me and supported me. I hope a riot will open up to this situation soon.

I don't know what will happen for the future. I will listen to my head for a few weeks and continue my talks with Riot.

Thanks.

This isn’t the first time that cheating allegations have been made on a Valorant pro player. A few weeks back, Spanish esports team Movistar Riders dropped Rui “rapaztriste” Fonseca from their roster for allegedly using cheats during a qualifier event.

Neither Riot nor Turkey’s official Valorant esports account has provided official proof of Yasin “Nisay” Gök cheating on a ranked match.
