Rio visits Tuensang Covid-19 hospital

Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio—along with Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton; Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Justice and Law, CM Chang; and Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom—inspected the Covid-19 hospital in Tuensang on Wednesday.

According to a DIPR report, the chief minister and his team conducted a joint meeting with district officials, civil societies, church leaders and NGOs.

While appreciating their hard work, Rio updated them on his video conferencing with the central government ‘regarding law and order situation, loopholes and success stories of Covid-19 etc’.

Rio congratulated the district’s chamber of commerce for their initiative that resulted in installation of an ICU at District Hospital, Tuensang. He asserted that despite loopholes, the government will give its best in the Covid-19 battle.

The chief minister encouraged them to ensure the safety of public. ‘As aged people are more vulnerable to the virus, we shall still continue to take care using the guidelines even though we do not have any positive case till now,’ he said.

The chief minister stressed on the need to focus on agri and allied sector, and entrepreneurship during this time.

The ministers appreciated the hard work of the stakeholders in fighting the virus. The deputy chief minister also asked the DC to direct all the villages to allow stranded people to enter their respective villages.

Ventilator soon

‘Minister of Health and Family Welfare, responding to the memorandum for installation of ventilator at District Hospital, Tuensang, said that presently it is being installed in Kohima and Dimapur and others will follow suit. He also advised the district administration and Health department to check the quality of the incoming consignment and return if the equipment are not up to the mark,’ It reported.

Also, the chief minister distributed relief to daily wage earners which was arranged by District Disaster Management Authority, Tuensang. Deputy Chief Minister donated walkie-talkie sets to Village Guards of Tuensang, Longleng, Kiphire and Shamator.
