Dimapur, May 15 (EMN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio visited Phek and Zunheboto on Friday to monitor the Covid-19 preparedness and inspect various arrangements made by the district administrations.

Rio was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and a host of other legislators, according to a DIPR report.

In Zunheboto, a meeting was held at the deputy commissioner’s residence with various officers, representatives from Sumi Hoho, Sumi Kukami Hoho, Sumi Totimi Hoho, and church leaders.

‘The chief minister expressed his gratitude to God for keeping Nagaland safe and said that God truly loves us. We are a testament of His grace and protection. Even developed countries like the United States and European countries who are much more developed than us are suffering at the hands of this pandemic. People are not just dying but it is affecting our economies and other critical aspects as well,’ the chief minister said.

On the lockdown and difficulties faced by people while procuring essential items, he urged them to ‘look at our ancestors and learn how to be self-sufficient’.

In Phek, Rio called upon everyone to give their best in the fight against Covid-19.

Even though Nagaland has been declared a green zone, he said, ‘we still need to be alert and stay home’. He also thanked church leaders for ‘taking equal responsibility’.
