Rio urges Sumis to be warriors on all fronts

Dimapur, March 6 (EM): Supplementing to the sobriquet of Zunheboto as ‘Land of Warriors,’ Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio called upon the Sumi community to not only limit themselves as warriors in battle field but also be warriors for peace as well as in keeping health fit and healthy.

Rio stated this during the laying of the foundation stone ceremony for a Community Health Centre (CHC) at Satkha town in Zunheboto district on March 6. He expressed happiness that the foundation of CHC at Satakha, which was sanctioned last year, could be made possible. He also lauded the Health and Family Welfare department for their tireless efforts in making the programme a success, a DIPR report stated on Saturday.

Rio expressed hope that the people of Satakha division in particular and the Sumis in general would be greatly benefitted with the upgrade of Public Health Centre (PHC) to that of a Community Health Centre (CHC).

With the recent introduction of air cargo service in Nagaland where products such as pineapples, avocados, cucumbers, kiwi, plum etc would be sent out to other states for commercialisation, Rio encouraged the farmers to make good use of the service in order to get maximum profit.

Rio encouraged the people to not only depend on doctors and nurses for treatment of illness but also learn to abstain from excess consumption of meat or sugar etc which are harmful to health. While advocating on healthy lifestyle, Rio advised the doctor and nurses to not only treat the disease but also let the people know the cause of disease and the kind of food to eat to keep their body fit and healthy.

Also speaking at the programme, the principal secretary of Health and Family Welfare Amardeep Singh Bhatia expressed that the public of the area have genuine needs to get the best possible healthcare services. He stated that the laying of the foundation stone for CHC at Satakha was a step towards meeting the aspirations of the people. He also hoped that the government would be able to upgrade the infrastructure and provide more doctors as per the community health centre requirements.

He further educated the people about Ayushman Bharat which provides health insurance upto INR 5 lakh and provides free treatments covering surgeries, medical and day care, cost of medicine and diagnostic tests.

In a brief speech, president of Sumi Hoho, Hekhushe Shikhu, pointed out the dubious characteristics of the Nagas in their urge for developmental works while none is eager to part even an inch of their land. In this context, he appealed to the public to give land for development to take place.

Meanwhile, minister of Agriculture and Cooperation G Kaito Aye has expressed gratitude to the chief minister and his colleagues for fulfilling the long-awaited dreams of Satakha people. He added that under the leadership of the chief minister, Satakha would soon get a post of SDOs for PHE, Electrical, BDO office along with quarters and sub-treasury office in Satakha soon.

The program was chaired by the chief medical officer (CMO), Zunheboto, Dr. Akaho Sema, while the dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Vivika H Chishi, women pastor of Satakha Town Baptist Church. The welcome address was delivered by G Kakuto Shohe and the vote of thanks was delivered by TL Kiusumong Tikhir, ADC Satakha.
