Rio, NDPP mourn Thong’s demise

Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): The chief minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio has expressed shock and sadness at the demise of Kenyüyhung Thong, president of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Tseminyu region on July 15 at his native village in Sendenyu.

In a condolence note, Rio said Thong joined government service in 1976 as an LDA at DC’s Office Kohima and later joined the Police department as a sub-inspector and continued to serve the government diligently tilll his retirement as a deputy commandant in 2017.

Throughout his life, Rio said Thong had served the people in various capacities such as judicial secretary (2013-2016) and then as vice president (2017 till date) of Sendenyu Chipwen Union; vhairman of Sendenyu Village Council (2017 till date); and as president of the NDPP Tseminyu region from 2017 till he breathed his last.

The chief minister described him as a gentleman who had a distinguished service as well as a warm personality.

Thong  was the recipient of the Governor’s Commendation Certificate (1999) and the President’s Police Gold Medal (2001). Besides, he was an active and dedicated leader who contributed his best towards the upliftt of the party, the message read.

In his demise, Rio said ‘we have lost a capable and efficient leader and a friend who will be dearly missed.’

Rio along with his wife and family expressed deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.

Also, the NDPP has expressed shock and sadness at the sudden death of K Thong, president of the NDPP, Tseminyu region, on July 15.

A condolence note from the NDPP Chingwang Konyak, said that Thong was a dedicated party worker, who had unceasingly worked for the welfare of the party in particular and the people of his area in general.

The NDPP felt that his demise is a great loss to both the party and the people of Tseminyu region.

On behalf of the NDPP rank and file, the president has conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty to grant solace to them at this time of pain and sorrow.

The NDPP Dimapur region has also expressed sadness at the untimely demise of K Thong, president of the NDPP Tseminyu region.

Lamenting over the loss by the demise, the party said Thong was steadfast to the party by bringing victory to the NDPP candidate at Tseminyu.

The region president and colleagues have expressed sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and offered prayer for the decease family and paid respect to the departed soul.
