Dimapur, March 9 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) have mourned the demise of NDPP women organisation president Visevonuo Bebi Tstirhuo, who passed away at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima on Tuesday.

Rio stated in his condolence message that Tstirhuo, who was also the principal of Kohima Law College, was a founding member of the NDPP and made immense contributions towards the cause of the party from the day of inception.

“She was a strong advocate for women empowerment, gender equality and a just society. She was always concerned for the welfare of the public, especially the weaker sections, having made significant contributions and sacrifices for the uplift of society,” read the message.

“In her demise, the NDPP has lost a prominent leader who still had tremendous potential to provide leadership and guidance to our society in multiple fields. Her passing away is also a personal loss, as she was not only a colleague, but like an elder sister to me. Our responsibilities made us work together very closely under varied circumstances. I will always recollect the fond memories of our experiences for all times to come and will greatly miss her,” it added.

“My family joins me in conveying our deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family and we pray to Almighty God to let the departed soul rest in peace,” it further stated.

In a separate press release, NDPP expressed shock and sadness at the demise of its women’s wing president.

“She was a dedicated party member who was instrumental in founding the NDPP and contributed immensely towards the uplift and development of women empowerment and gender equality. She headed the women organisation with leadership, dedication, loyalty and honesty,” read the condolence message issued by NDPP president Chingwang Konyak.

“Today, the NDPP in general and the women organisation in particular have lost a mother and a mentor who dedicated herself in the growth and progress of the party in all fronts. Her passing will be a vacuum that will not be easy to fill. May the Almighty grant eternal rest to madam’s soul; and may God provide solace to the members of the bereaved family,” it added.
