Rio inaugurates Zinki bailey bridge

Dimapur, April 29 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, informed that an amount of INR 180 crore is kept with the government to be utilised through the Department of Under Developed Area (DUDA) for the development of education and health sectors. Stating that discussions would be held with departmental heads on guidelines and priorities, Rio has called for judicious use of the funds.

Rio stated this while inaugurating the Zinki Bailey Bridge in Kiphire district on April 28 as the chief guest. Rio expressed confidence that the people would accrue maximum benefit with the completion of the bridge.

He also informed about the upcoming funding programmes, which would lift the economy and per capita income of the people, stated a DIPR report.

During the inaugural function, N Imti Chang, DUDA executive engineer, presented the technical reports and informed that the bridge, measuring 14 feet width and 160 feet in length, was completed at a cost of INR 15 crore.

Short speeches were also delivered by advisor of Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guard and Civil Defence, S Kiusumew Yimchunger; advisor of Geology and Mining and DUDA, Chingang Konyak; and representative from Tutheze village council; USLP and USSC.

Report also stated that a representative from Longmatra Area GBs’ Association have apprised for upgrade of EAC to SDO Civil post at Longmatra. He also reminded for prompt implementation of Inland water way connectivity from Longmatra to Avakhung along Tizu-Zinki river.

Rio held a meeting with the leaders of Pungro area, government officers and GBs at GA Guest House in Pungro on April 28, wherein he requested the people to have a mindset of working together stating that the government is sincerely working to bring development to the people.

While informing that government job reservations were given to strengthen and uplift the people of backward areas, he called upon the people to take advantage of the opportunity.

Also speaking in the meeting, the minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye, impressed upon the importance of education in order to compete with the rest of the world.

“Development is very important in one’s life and we should not compromise in this matter, together we can do it, and all sections of the people should come forward,” Kenye said.

Speaking on delimitation, the advisor of Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guard and Civil Defence, S Kiusumew Yimkhiung, called upon the leaders and people to take responsibility and cooperate for the betterment of future generation.

The meeting was chaired by Pungro ADC, Theodore Yanthan.
