DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 15

CHIEF Minister and Convenor of North East Regional Parties Front (NERPF) Neiphiu Rio condemned the violent killing of Manipur People’s Party (MPP) vice president Haobijam Manisana Singh on November 13.
In a press communiqué on Friday, Rio said the killing of Haobijam Manisana Singh deserves the highest level of condemnation from all right thinking citizens. “It is an attack on the democratic principles of the country and can only be carried out by the enemies of democracy. The forces of justice must unite to combat the agents of violence and fear,” he said.
Rio said late Haobijam Manisana Singh was a respected and senior leader in Manipur who had given the best years of his life to the service of the people and made significant contributions towards the people’s welfare, especially the weaker sections of society.
Stating that his sudden and shocking demise is a setback for the MPP in particular and for the people of Manipur in general, Rio said the vacuum created by his demise will be difficult to fill.
He prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and also for comfort of the bereaved family in this hour of grief. “I extend condolences on behalf of all members and affiliates of the NERPF, especially to the family members of the departed leader and to the MPP, who have lost a tall and respected leader. The prayers and support of the NERPF is with you during this time of grief,” Rio said.
The NERPF also expressed solidarity to the MPP during this difficult hour and appealed to all sections of the people and the authorities concerned to make efforts to bring the culprits of this most condemnable act to book and let justice prevail.
