Dimapur, March 11 (EMN):
The two-day silver jubilee celebration of the Rilan Village Students’ Union Dimapur (RVSU) culminated on March 11 at Rilan village ground. The theme of the event was “Marching towards excellence.”

Speaking during the occasion as the guest of honour, the advisor for Horticulture and Border Affairs Mhathung Yanthan urged the students to introspect and learn to do better in life to achieve the celebration’s theme ‘marching towards excellence.’

‘Students should have responsibility as time is of the essence, and it will wait for none,’ Yanthan said.

The advisor urged the people to keep updates with technological advancements but at the same time ‘understand its merits and demerits.’ He told the gathering to keep updated about digital technology and enhance their knowledge.

Yanthan advised the students not to focus only on government jobs but to give importance to the private sector as well. He urged the parents to motivate their children in areas where they can grow and be equipped in skills.

Dimapur Municipal Council’s (DMC) administrator Albert Ezung was also at the event. He said students should strive towards excellence and do better in the areas of their interest.

Ezung said they all are involved in many aspects of life, but it is not necessary that everyone will excel. He advised the gathering to have an aspiration and to focus on the areas that they are good at.

The DMC administrator said also that to excel in life, the students must have the hunger to excel, set a benchmark against the best, and have self-belief, build concrete strategies, and plan towards fulfilling their goals. He urged them to learn from the best, and to not limit themselves but to go all out and work hard and smart.

‘One must be ready for change at all times and change of plans, and never give up. Defeat does not occur unless you accept defeat,’ he said.

A monolith marking the programme was dedicated by Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur’s pastor Reverend Zanao Mozhui and was unveiled by Yanthan.
