Nagaland state cabinet adopts Kiphire declaration

Dimapur, Nov. 9: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju arrived in “aspirational district” Kiphire on Friday, Nov. 9. He attended the Nagaland state cabinet meeting and inaugurated the upgraded District Hospital Kiphire on the same day.
“Attended the special Nagaland Cabinet Meeting chaired by CM Neiphiu Rio ji at Kiphire. Many significant decisions were taken for Kiphire District as well as for whole of Nagaland,” tweeted the Union Minister who ends his visit to Nagaland on Nov. 10.

“After the special Cabinet Meeting at Kiphire in Nagaland we visited the beautiful Sangtam village of Tethuyo. The amazing love and affection shown by the villagers touched my heart,” he added.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had in October officially invited Rijiju to attend the state’s special cabinet meeting to be convened in Kiphire district, to which the latter accepted.
Here are some important declarations made at the special cabinet meeting presided by Nagaland CM:
- Good governance and infrastructure:
- Aspirational Blocks in the remaining 10 Districts.
- Augmentation of water supply to all district towns to meet the demand for the next 25 years.
- Health care:
- Availability of medical professionals in all rural areas with strict enforcement of policy for serving in rural areas.
- GPS mapping of all health centres with details of personnel.
- Agriculture and piggery:
- Focus on cluster-based agricultural output to augment farmers' incomes.
- Promotion of piggery by building in-market linkages and supporting feed producing units.
- Connectivity:
- Providing two Joseph Cyril Bamford (JCB) machines at Sitimi-Seyochung and Pungro.
- Thrice a week helicopter service with the availability of the second helicopter.
- Youth:
- Standard playground in all districts with proper facilities.
- Construction of multi-purpose indoor stadium/convention centre in all district headquarters.
- District corpus fund:
- Corpus Fund of INR 1 crore to meet developmental gaps of Kiphire district.
Meanwhile, Rio said that the improvement in the facilities of the hospital should help the people of the district.
“The hospital will provide access to better healthcare for the people of Kiphire. I hope they not only fully utilise the upgraded facilities and infrastructure but also take ownership of it. #Nagaland,” Rio wrote on his Twitter page
