Mr. Amit Shah, banning someone’s delicacy also hurts sentiment

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n an exclusive interview with India Today magazine BJP president Amit Shah has expressed that ‘one should draw the line between what is a food habit and sentiments referring to the ban on beef in two BJP-ruled states of India.’ The BJP chief also said that ‘everyone should respect each other’s sentiments.’ Amit Shah said, ‘My party believes that this is under the guiding principles of the Constitution. We believe that cow slaughter should be banned. Wherever there is a BJP government, we have banned it. Everyone should respect each other’s sentiments. If it requires some changes, one should do it. There is a difference between food habits and someone’s sentiments. I personally would not like to hurt anyone’s sentiments. This is not about food habits but sentiments’.Here, we will not find more ridiculous of comments when Amit Shah said that his concern was all about sentiments and favours to ban somebody’s delicacy. What do we have to say when a person strongly advocates that ‘everyone should respect each other’s sentiments’ but calls for the banning of others’ food habits? There is limit to every absurdity but when the chief of the world’s largest political party (as claimed by the party) fails to understand such simple logic a sense of insecurity prevails among the people.
By what Amit Shah said one can as well conclude that he does not see things beyond Hindu nationalism. If Amit Shah does not mean that those cultures, traditions, practices and food habits should be banned if they hurt the sentiments of the Hindu nationalists then what his comments connote? (when he said ‘this is not about food habits but sentiments’)
From here things have become obvious that the saffron supremacy is very much in the making and it is definitely threatening the social fabrics of the country of ‘unity in diversity’.
