Zuchobeni rose to fame in the year 2011 when she was judged the ultimate winner of ‘Kids for Fame 2011’, one of Nagaland’s most popular music contests. Despite no formal vocal classes or training, her passion and zeal for music helped her realize her dreams! She is nowone of the youngest and most successful musicians showcased at ‘Indihut’ – (the only website that promotes Nagaland’s Young Musicians). Zuchobeni is known all over Nagaland for her enchanting voice that mesmerizes all who hear it.
Eastern Mirror: A little intro into your music career. How it all started.
Zuchobeni: I can say that my music career began since I was 4 years old, which is when I first realized that music is my passion. But professionally, it started off since 2011, when I was won the ultimate winner of kids for fame.
Eastern Mirror: How does it feel being known to many as one of the youngest musician in Indihut and the state as well?
Zuchobeni:Being known to many as one of the youngest musician on Indihut is such a great privilege for me as I take I feel encouraged and more confident than before.
Eastern Mirror: Being the ultimate winner of ‘Kids for Fame 2011,’ – share your experience.
Zuchobeni: In 2011, I was the youngest contestant and being the youngest I was very scared because I had very strong competitors. I wasn’t even confident enough to present myself before the judges. But I was very much encouraged when I got a standing ovation from the judges during my first performance when I sang the song “Cowboy take me away” by Dixie Chicks.
I wasn’t expecting to win the title because my contenders were really a big challenge for me, but ultimately when I heard my name being announced as the winner, I was totally astounded and extremely happy. It was more like a dream than reality.
Eastern Mirror: Journey behind releasing your first debut single ‘Scar’……
Zuchobeni: I always wanted to sing my own songs. I loved composing songs but time had always been an issue. I had to deal with the hectic routine of a student’s life. So during my 2 months break after matric examination, I composed this song “scar”. As for the lyrics, it has nothing to do with my personal life 🙂
I sang to my brother and he duly appreciated and further advised me to go for recording.
Eastern Mirror: Who has been your musical influence? If you could collaborate with anyone in the state who would that be?
Zuchobeni: I particularly admire Taylor swift. And I should say that she has been my musical influence. If I had the opportunity to sing with any musician in the state, I would love to sing with Shalo Kent. He is one of my favourite local artists.
Eastern Mirror: Who is and had been your greatest support within the four walls of your home with ‘you and your music’?
Zuchobeni: My parents and all my siblings have always been my greatest support.
Eastern Mirror: Apart from wanting to become a successful musician, do you have any other ambition that you want to achieve?
Zuchobeni: Academics have always been my first priority. Sometimes it becomes difficult for me to balance my academics as well as my passion but I manage to do it somehow. But music has never been a hindrance because whenever I’m free I keep singing and it never took me much time to learn new styles and genres of music, which helps me, stay relevant and updated with the Global music trend. I believe that I can pursue and balance both my passion and my profession in the days to come, as each day will unfold a new exciting chapter that will lead me to my destiny, which God has set for me.
Eastern Mirror: Believing you rose to fame at an early age…. What were the reactions of your friends and teachers and their feedbacks???
Zuchobeni: My friends and teachers were extremely happy and proud of me. They have always been encouraging me and to see them being proud of me really made me happy.
Eastern Mirror: Any advices or words for your friends???
Zuchobeni: We are all gifted in different ways. Realize your talents and give your best in everything you do.
