Rhythm of Love: In conversation with Kino

Kino is an upcoming artiste from Nagaland, who ventured into music because it gave him energy and peace of mind. He aspires to inspire society through his music.

He has released his first official music video “Replay” featuring wyrd and Ratri, on his YouTube channel, on June 18, 2022.

Eastern Mirror: How would you like to introduce yourself to the readers?

Kino: Hi, I am Kino, an independent singer from Nagaland. I play guitar, write songs and produce as well, and Lofi and Rnb soul is my jam.

I completed my grade 8 vocals from Nagaland and completed my diploma in performing arts from Swarnabhoomi music academy, Chennai. “Replay” is my debut single.

Eastern Mirror: What inspired you to get into music?

Kino: I started performing at schools and churches when I was about 14 years old because music gave me energy and a peace of mind. Now that I chose music as my profession I believe that I’ll make music to inspire the youths and the society at large.

Eastern Mirror: Describe the creative process behind your first music video “Replay” featuring Wyrd and Ratri?

Kino: It all started in 2019 when Ratri, Wyrd and I came together to write this song and we finished it in 2022.

To begin with, Kohdi Jing’s (film maker/director) brainstorming idea in video making was indeed a spectacular performance resulting in successful release of this music video.

Eastern Mirror: What is the song replay about and what’s the inspiration behind it?

Kino: “Replay” is a lofi- soul music number inspired by my past experiences; shading fuzzy memories to escape reality and dwelling on love that seldom exists.  

Eastern Mirror: Any reason why the music video was created in a retro fashion?

Kino: We were determined to please the audience with a new genre and conspicuous cinematography.

Eastern Mirror: The music video has been receiving many positive comments, how do you feel about it?

Kino: I am truly overwhelmed and humbled. I also congratulate my entire team and everyone who supported and encouraged me.

Eastern Mirror: Any project in the offing?

Kino: Yes, I am currently working on my EP, which will soon be released. So stay tuned.

Eastern Mirror: Do you have any other hobbies besides music.

Kino: I enjoy writing songs and travelling.

Eastern Mirror: Any message you want to share?

Kino: Firstly I want to thank God and everybody for the love and support on my first release. I look forward to bringing positivity and inspiration to the younger generations.
