Rhythm of love

Music is a way we can belt, hook on to that influence and we feel music with our entire feelings. With Rhythm of Love Eastern Mirror connects our readers to music in conversation with artists as they share their experience with their love ……. music.

Music moves us, opens our emotions passing all barriers. Music is a piece that we all can connect with so Readers get connected with your favorite artists with the Rhythm of Love.

On Fridays, Eastern Mirror will feature Artists/bands from the state and outside while promoting MUSIC-the present craze of the state.

Introducing Nana studying at St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School Chumukedima, Alemty at Eastern Christian College and Moatula at Greenwood Higher Secondary School.

Eastern Mirror: For people who have not heard about your band, can you tell us how your band was formed?
Girls Excess (GE): Initially as a student of Mountain Music Academy we started performing at some local shows as a solo. It was at that time when our mentor or we may say our Idol Alobo Naga who noticed us and our talent and supported us by giving us platforms to showcase our talent. Gradually he helped us in building a career in music. There after we were selected to form a band through him and started performing at various stages.

EM: What kind of music genre does your band focus on?
GE: As a beginner we don’t know much about music but we just love to be a part of music but we try to go with R&B, Pop and contemporary music.

EM: What’s the chemistry like among your fellow band mates?
GE: We are more like sisters and it’s kind of amusing as we are of the same size making it easier for us to share/swap clothes in times of emergency………. and above all we love the same music genre.

EM: As a girl band what is your opinion on the scenario of women artists in the state?
GE: We all witness there are only few female artists in the state even though there are lots of talents where in a way it is discourages for us. May be it is because of our culture that women are given less privileges and stereotyped to be house wife. But within the recent year’s socialization has impacted to some point and at this moment we feel we took the right decisions and hopefully we are determined to become a successful global band.
Above all we are grateful to our parents, family, teachers, school and our friends for supporting us with our music and for being there whenever we are to perform.

EM: You are still young and in schools, so have you joined the music field just as an amateur or you want to create a niche in the music industry.
GE: We are determined to make a spot as a prominent girl band but right now we are waiting for completion of our studies so that we may sustain our position with education too. After which we are clear to jump in the music industry.

EM: Where do you hope to go with your career?
GE: We got a long way to go as we believe life is a journey. We know that there will be ups and downs but hoping and praying that if we make us of our God gifted talent in music God will surely do the rest.

EM: Tell us something exclusive about your band.
GE: We believe we are the first Naga pop teenage band so we want to bring more creative music which will be loved by all and yes we dance too……… this is just the beginning for us so we ask for prayer and support from everyone.

EM: What do you believe you can contribute to the youths through your music?
GE: They say that music is the key to heart. If we could succeed in becoming a renowned band we believe we would be an eye opener to all youth and to divert their interest more into music and save them from being wasting their time in other unnecessary activities.
