Bovito Swu

Bovito Swu aka ‘The Kid Bovix’ is an upcoming singer/songwriter who chose music to overcome his hard times. His first song “Fake love”, which was written by him, premiered on July 20 on YouTube.

The young musician believes in breaking barriers and coming out of one’s comfort zone to follow one’s passion.

Eastern Mirror: Tell us about yourself. What made you want to pursue music?

The Kid Bovix: My name is Bovito Swu aka ‘The Kid Bovix’. The reason I wanted to do music was because it helped me get through my hard times. Through this experience of mine, I wanted to bring an impact on others by creating music that they can relate to; and I also wanted to inspire others through my music.

Eastern Mirror: Is there any significance behind your stage name The Kid Bovix?

The Kid Bovix: My stage name ‘The Kid Bovix’ is borrowed from the famous American musician ‘The Kid Laroi’. I was so # inspired by his music that I took half of his stage name for myself as a mark of respect. The last name ‘Bovix’ was given by my childhood friend Vitolu.

So I decided to use it as my stage name to acknowledge him. There are rappers like MGK, NF from whom I take inspiration as well.

Eastern Mirror: Tell us about your song ‘Fake Love’.

The Kid Bovix: My first music video “Fake Love” speaks about two lovers, where one truly expresses the love to the other but it is not reciprocated by the other person, and is kept as an option, which results in their break up.

Eastern Mirror: Which genre/themes of music do you generally cover?

The Kid Bovix: My genres are Pop/Hip Hop, Trap, and Rap. I make music on topics like love, hope, and struggle and try to convey a message, which is to be the real version of oneself.

Eastern Mirror: What is it about music that makes you want to do more of it?

The Kid Bovix: The reason I wanted to do more music is because it has the power to inspire, motivate and provide relief when one is at his or her lowest.

It is only through music that I can convey my opinion and share ideas to people, and it’s the only powerful means that nobody else can take it away from me except God.

Eastern Mirror: Which type of musician would you prefer to collaborate with?

The Kid Bovix: I would prefer to collaborate with musicians who are more into Pop and Hip Hop.

Eastern Mirror: Tell us about your favourite and least favourite part of being a musician?

The Kid Bovix: My favourite part about being a musician is the ability to inspire and help others face their obstacles through music. The least favourite part of music is that it doesn’t always go smooth and being an artiste, we face a lot of mental stress and anxiety.

Eastern Mirror: What would you do if your audience looked tired or bored during your performance, or if you found any unconstructive opinion on social media?

The Kid Bovix: If I find that the audience are not satisfied or find an unconstructive opinion, I’ll take it as a compliment and correct myself, and come up with a better version.

Eastern Mirror: Take us through your creative process of writing music.

The Kid Bovix: Writing music takes a lot of creativity. While I am just a newbie, I still have lots more to learn.

Structuring lyrics, creating a catchy hook, counting syllables, rhyming are important factors while writing a song so I look into these aspects.

Eastern Mirror: In a state like ours where music is mostly considered as ‘just passion’ and not a career, how far would you like to take your music? What changes would you like to see in our state’s music scenario?

The Kid Bovix: The main point I want to address is passion and career.

We can make music as a career not only as passion; if others can then why can’t we?

But we have to step out of our comfort zone and give more effort. It doesn’t mean only the artiste.

We have to come up with a good music industry and create a platform such as signing a record label, proper sponsorship.

We are the new generation and there are lots of talented artists coming up so if we focus more on creating a platform and work together, we can make it to international level in the coming years.

Every morning when we wake up, if we think that we will never be great, then we will never be great.

Eastern Mirror: Do you have any limitations that you’re actively working to improve?

The Kid Bovix: I do have lots of limitations as nobody is perfect.

But every day, every hour I am trying my best to correct myself in the fields that I’m lacking and find my way up to the top.
