Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your whole body is full of darkness. Luke 11:34

When we speak about revivals, our minds are focused on the big crusades organized by religious media conscious ministries and churches. The impact of revivals are always so great but the power of it will depend on the spirituality of a church and its nation. To be revived in the Spirit we have to be revived in our hearts. I declare that revivals begins in the heart and gradually spreads to the whole body and to the people who expects and are ready for it. The purpose of this message is to highlight the importance of reviving our eyes as the title suggest.
There is a popular quote which says, “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and the interpretation of it is that beautiful eyes makes a person beautiful. Our eyes are a gift from God because it also serves the purpose of our existence. Beautiful women paints their eyes that they may look more attractive and seductive. And evil men looks at them and become more sinful. The point is this: Evil women are wicked and wicked men are evil. Such men and women who have signed the ‘Certificate of Sin “ shall ultimately go where sinners go. The young, the old and the teens alike are no different for they have all followed the way of Jezebel and chances are that they will be where she is if they repent not. The scripture says “ Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes (I Proverbs 6:25 ). It further warns men that if that sleep with her they will perish with her. The reality of the situation is that evil men likes evil women and they sin with them to their hearts content. To save us from God’s wrath, the Word of God says “ If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out, it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown in hell, where “ their worms will not die and the fire is not quenched ( Mark 9:47-48 ).

The ultimate warning has been given and whoever heeds not the warning will be damned. The Word of God says that if we look lustfully at any one, our spirituality will be stained with the sin of adultery. Our good deeds are recorded and so are our sins and if the Lord remembers our sins, the guilt of our sins will testify against us on the judgment day. Every believer has to know that we live in a filthy, dirty world and if we are being corrupted by it, we shall be condemned with the world.

Since we accepted the gift of life, our life should represent what the gift represents. Because we died to sin we should no longer live in it. If sin is still our master, then we shall be under condemnation but since we are under grace we became new creations in Christ. This process of sanctification signifies that the old has gone and the new has come. But if we go back to our old ways, the old demons will return with newer ones. And our condition will be worse than the first. God says that we are the light of the world and our lives should also reflect the very nature of Christ. Our eyes is the lamp of our body and our body is what our eyes are. The scripture says “ No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it is hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your whole body is full of darkness. See to it then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you ( Luke 11:33-36 ).

The light referred to here is Jesus and darkness is referred to satan. We are what our hearts are. If our eyes are focused on all that are evil, the demons will start controlling us from within, and as long as the evil remain in us, we become defiled by the stains of it. Harsh as it may sound this is the reality of the situation. Whenever we look at any women our motives should be holy. And whenever any women looks at men, their hearts should be clean. Our eyes are also a gift from God and if we continue sinning with it our whole body may also perish because of it. To save ourselves from God’s wrath, it is important that we keep on purifying our hearts, mind and conscience out of reverence for God. If the blind suffers because they are blind then do we have to sin because we can see? I pray that none of the curses will befall anyone who reads this. Sin not with your eyes but let people see the beauty of Christ in you. Holiness is a gift and our eyes can only be holy when our hearts are holy. The scripture says”… We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what’s due to him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad ( 2nd Corinthians 5:10 ). The warning given here will ultimately determine where we spend eternity. Purge away all the sins from your heart that your eyes can be made whole. The moment you do this, the glory of Christ will shine through you. Let the beauty of Christ shine through you that you can become more beautiful and win people to Christ. The Church of Christ desires this of you.
