‘The development of a society in all spheres is a testimony of successful minds,’ Nuklutoshi said during the valedictory programme of ‘BizHorn’, a festival of Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India, Nagaland chapter, of which he was the chief guest. The festival was held for two days and culminate don Saturday, September 27.
Addressing the students of the university, the minister said that the catchword for education in the modern times was ‘learn, re-learn and continue to learn.’ The reason is, he said, education is very important to bringing economic development in the state.
Nuklutoshi encouraged the students to be productive assets and not liabilities for the society. He said progress can be achieved only if the students were focused and dedicated in their effort of achieving the goals that had set.
The minister also lamented that the ‘educated unemployed’ population has become one of the biggest problems in the Naga society. Nuklutoshi advised the students to work hard and help the state in eradicating the problem of unemployment which, he said, continues to increase.
Continuing on the subject of responsibility in students, the minister lamented that the Nagas today had become ‘too dependable and lazy.’
Nuklutoshi advised the students to revive the legacy of ‘work culture’ which he claimed was ‘bestowed by our forefathers.’
He encouraged the students’ community to strive to leave a legacy of communal harmony without any ‘tribalism’ and conflicts among the tribes and groups. The only instrument that can bring development to the people of the state and the society in general, the minister explained, was unity. Unity has the capacity to solving ‘every problem’ facing a community, the minister explained.
Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr. CP Alexander, also addressed the event. In his address, the Pro-vice chancellor said that the institution aspires to ‘bring educational benefits’ to the youths and students of the state through quality teaching. The curriculum of the university covers various courses such as BBA, BCA, BA, B.Com, MBA, MA (English), MA (Political Science) and PhD in management and interdisciplinary studies, he said.
He informed that the university has seen 194 students graduate till date. Most of them are placed in various companies, he said. The university started in 2006 with just 6 students but has now more than 300 students, Dr. Alexander said.
