Review meeting on Covid-19 held in Tuensang

Dimapur, March 30 (EMN): The Tuensang District Task Force decided during its review meeting in the DC’s conference hall, Tuensang, on March 30 that with the directive of the district’s deputy commissioner, all the colonies would deploy three each well-trained volunteers for updating the status of the home-quarantined persons and to distribute relief items to the needy in the colony.

This was informed in a press release issued by DIPR on Monday. The meeting reviewed the loopholes in implementing the lockdown in the district to contain the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

The superintendant of police, Tuensang, Bharat Laxman Markad, disclosed during the review meeting that 645 people have been screened so far in the district; 156 people were on home quarantine, out of which seven people have completed; and altogether 149 people are currently under home quarantine, read the statement.

The house also resolved that a medical team with proper gear would visit the home-quarantined people daily.

For emergencies, Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) will be used for regular treatments, while severe cases of general sickness will be treated at Longpang PHC, and District Hospital Tuensang will be designated as Covid-19 hospital, it added.

DC issues advisories

The deputy commissioner of Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant, has issued the following advisories in the wake of the orders under the Disaster Management Act 2005 to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.

  • False information and rumours should not be circulated on social media. Authenticity of all information should be verified through official sources.
  • Public should not resort to panic buying or hoarding as sufficient stock of essential items are available and will be maintained within the district.
  • Public is requested to practice hand and respiratory hygiene at all times at home, at workplace and all public places.
  • Public are requested to follow the instructions as per the IEC pamphlets which is made available in the local dialects within the District.

DC Tuensang also informed that in order to take measures for the smooth functioning and delivery of essential services during the 21-day lockdown period, the department of Posts has come forward to offer their services to deliver parcels of dry rations and other essential commodities/cash at the door-steps of the people. In this regard, a single window to provide postal services for delivery of services will be operational in the district, the press release informed.

“Therefore, all necessary support should be extended to the postal officials for the smooth functioning in carrying out their duties,” it added.
