EMN Dimapur, March 18 The United Naga Tribes Association on Border Areas (UNTABA) has resolved to pursue the common goal of Naga people for restoring the historical and traditional Naga territories as committed by government of India. For this, Joint Action Committee representing various Naga tribes has been formed today in a meeting of its Executive Committee and Advisory Board here at Book Marc Conference Hall. The meeting attended by 72 members from different ranges also resolved to chalk out programmes for conducting public meetings in various border areas. A statement issued by UNTABA General Secretary Imsumongba Pongenand Media Incharge Richard Haolai said, after thorough deliberation, the meeting unanimously adopted a number of resolutions. Accordingly, the Naga people irrespective of different National political affiliations, tribes or organizations will firmly stand on the implementation of 9-Point-Agreement of 1947 so as to restore all the traditional and historical Naga territories. Any agreement(s) on the Indo-Naga political issue must be made on the basis of the historical realities of the land that belongs to Naga people, the resolution said and asserted the government of Nagaland must vigorously pursue the fulfillment of Point No. 12 & 13 of the ’16-Point-Agreement’ so as to restore and amalgamate all the Naga territories. Further, the meeting dwelt on the pending case (‘Civil Suit No. 2 of 1988’) and decided to urge the government of Nagaland to allow the State Law and Justice Department to handle the case along with the Border Affairs Department for all the practical purposes. The meeting while reviewing the precarious situations faced by the people living in the border areas felt the necessity of local administrators as Deputy Commissioners in all the bordering districts in line with the resolution adopted by the Nagaland GBs Federation. The Joint Action Committee comprises Shiwoto Yeputhomi, T.L. Angami, Nungsang Longkumer, Raitu Elu, Akong Phom, Shahi Rengma, Mhao Ngullie and Khamba Konyak
