DIMAPUR — A one-day seminar on various government schemes for the villages under 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency (AC) was conducted at Orija Salang in Changki village under Mokokchung district on Wednesday.

An update from the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) of Jangpetkong AC informed that the seminar was organised under the initiative of Temjenmenba, MLA and advisor of Transport and Technical Education.

Speaking at the programme, Temjenmenba laid out the main objective of organising the seminar as a means to sensitise the villages under the constituency on the different government schemes for the people. Observing that villages under his constituency seemed to be unaware of the different government schemes, he particularly stressed the Village Integrated Cooperative Society (VICS) under the Union Ministry of Cooperation headed by Amit Shah, who is also the Union Home Minister.

Underscoring the importance of the programme, Temjenmenba appealed to each village under the constituency to set up a VICS to avail different developmental schemes through the society.

While pointing out that the practice of expecting only the MLA or minister to bring development was of the past, he stated that developmental activities in this modern time called for active involvement of everyone. In this regard, he was of the opinion that setting up VICS would enable the village in availing the different government schemes for development.

Temjenmenba, who is also the local NDPP MLA of 29 Jangpetkong AC, categorically urged the NDPP party leaders present at the programme to understand that the LADP fund is ‘not a party fund.’ He stated that LADP fund would be used only for developmental works and added that villages should also show visible developmental works done under LADP fund.

Temjenmenba reminded of his election campaign pledge of serving the people on ‘mission mode’ and added that there would be no compromise when it comes to developing the constituency.

“This is just the beginning and it will continue. Today, we are just igniting a small fire and it will grow bigger. Therefore, we need the involvement of everyone in our mission to develop our constituency,” the advisor said.

The resource persons were joint registrar of Nagaland Cooperative Society, Bendang Yaden, who spoke on “Introduction to village integrated cooperative society”; senior dental surgeon at IMDH, Mokokchung, Dr.Taliwaba, who spoke on “Introduction to CM Health Insurance Scheme”; and OSD to the advisor of Transport and Technical Education, ZulutemjenOzukum, who spoke on “Introduction to CM Corpus Fund and Chief Minister Micro Finance Initiative (CMMFI)”.
