This is evident as many potted plants seen along the footpaths and outside shops across Kohima town.
The administrator of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), Kovi Meyase, updated that more than 200 potted planted have been donated so far and informed that no potted plants have gone missing.
This all started on July 18, when two persons, who wished to remain anonymous, brought several potted plants to KMC office. Since then, various individuals and organisations have been donating potted plants, and they are subsequently placed along the footpaths and outside the shops in the town.
Meyase has appealed to the citizens to continue participating in this initiative and help extend the ‘Green Line’ on both sides of the road. He also appealed to the traders to take care of the plants kept outside their shops as it helps and adds to the aesthetics of not only the city but also their shops as well.
He further urged the residents of respective wards to take responsibility within their jurisdictions as well as to the citizens to take care of the plants and volunteer to help maintain them. He also suggested that individuals and groups to come forward and adopt stretches of roads for maintenance.
