Reputation of institution graded by its products: Governor

Governor of Nagaland Dr Ashwani Kumar said the reputation of any institution is graded by the caliber of its product students, and their excellence in respective careers. He was addressing at the 1st Convocation ceremony of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) University at Sovima, Dimapur, on Thursday.
He lauded the excellent campus infrastructure and the idyllic surroundings, which reassembled the traditional ‘Gurukuls and Morungs’. He hoped that physical facilities would contribute towards effecting changes in the students and the teachers.
He asserted that, the ability to change oneself and the capability to change others are the crucial factors for transforming society, ensuring survivability and sustainability.
The ‘visitor’ encouraged the students, to take up careers in chartered financial analysts, economics, commerce, IT and management. He reminded them that they have no time to loose or to be distracted or to be relaxed, if they have to achieve their goals and fulfill the expectation of their parents.
Dr Ashwani also appreciated the ICFAI society for having built an enormous reputation in the field of professional education in the past three decades of its functioning in various parts of the country wherein the society has been instrumental in developing a new generation of professionals who are contributing in a positive manner to the development of society, the country and the world.
Delivering the convocation message, Chancellor of the University, YK Bhushan pointed out that most universities today are at a crossroad over the decision of remaining centres of intellectual grooming alone or becoming centres of professional capacity building.
Dr (Col) VTK Prasad, Vice Chancellor, ICFAI University, Nagaland cited that Convocation Ceremony also known as ‘Commencement Ceremony’ elaborated that graduation is not the end but instead it is the beginning of life and he also encouraged all the graduates to find jobs where their heart lies in order to be successful.
During the ceremony the pledge by outgoing students was initiated by Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr CP Alexander.
Mention may be made here that, the ICFAI University Nagaland was established by an Act of Nagaland State Legislative Assembly August 30, 2006. Since then, the University is striving to develop a new cadre of professionals in the state through innovative and professional educational programmes courses like BBA, BCA and MBA.
In addition the university has also started offering programmes like BA (Hons & Pass) and B.Com (Hons & Pass) from 2013-2014 session.
