DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of the Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB)-cum-work distribution for the forthcoming Republic Day celebration meeting was held at DC’s conference hall in Mokokchung on Tuesday.

Thsuvisie Phoji, Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of Mokokchung DPDB, chaired the meeting, according to a DIPR report.

Speaking on the occasion, Phoji said that this calendar year will be eventful because members will be assigned duties for the upcoming parliamentary election in addition to their normal official duties.

In this regard, he requested the full cooperation of all members. He also notified all office heads who had yet to submit the employee list for their respective offices to do so as soon as possible.

During the meeting, ADC Mokokchung, Chumlamo Humtosoe, informed the members about issues surrounding the town graveyard and waste dumping site. He stated that due to a lack of space for new burials at the current site and the difficulty in identifying new burial sites, a committee has been formed to look into the matter.

Regarding the issue of the waste dumping site, he mentioned that the Mokokchung Municipal Council has initiated a plan of action to address the problem. He also emphasised the need for increased awareness regarding kitchen waste management.

The board also decided to recommend to the concerned authority the registration of the Tuli Area Truck Union.

The DC further requested that all departments cooperate and complete the tasks assigned to their respective departments in order to ensure the success of the Republic Day celebrations.
