Republic Day celebrated across state with gusto

DIMAPUR — Nagaland celebrated the 75th Republic Day on Friday with pomp and gaiety. The celebrations was marked with display of cultural items and competitions on indigenous games.

Mokokchung: Mokokchung celebrated the Republic Day at Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung town with the minister of PHED, Jacob Zhimomi, as the chief guest. He unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya salute from nine parade contingents.

The minister also gave away certificate of merit to the winners of poetry writing competition namely Sentinaro Jamir and Odichung Jamir. The competition was conducted as part of 16 days activism against gender-based violence on the theme “Unite! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls.”

Highlights of the programme included display of martial arts by Mokokchung District Martial Arts Association and cultural presentations by Mopungsanger Ola, Ungma village and tug-of-war between Ladies Club and Lady Officers.

The minister also inaugurated the exhibition stalls.

R-Day Wokha: KG Kenye inspecting the parade contingents on the occasion of 75th Republic Day in Wokha on Friday.

Wokha: The 75th Republic Day celebration was held at Wokha town local ground with the minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye, as the chief guest.

The minister hoisted the national flag and took salute from seven parade contingents led by SDPO of Wokha, Sangthing Khiam.

Highlights of the day included visitation to Mhondamo Memorial Hospital by officials of DCCI, Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital by SBI, Wokha; Morning Star Children Home by ANCVA; and jail inmates by DLSA.

The chief guest also inaugurated the stall put up by various departments and self help groups.

Phek: In Phek district, the 75th Republic Day celebration was held at Phek public ground with the MLA Dr. Neisatuo Mero as the special guest, wherein he unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya salute from five parade contingents.

Dr. Neisatuo also inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by the departments including Agriculture, DRDA, NSRLM, Horticulture, Fishery, Medical, DEO (employment), ATMA, Urban Development and district legal service authority.

The celebration was mark with cultural dances performed by Bible Hill Ward, Phek town and Jericho II ward. Competitions on tug-of-war and football exhibition match between Phek District Veteran Sports Association (PDVSA) and DC XI marked the celebration.

Zunheboto: The advisor of Food and Civil supplies and Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, KT Sukhalu, took the Rashtriya salute during the 75th Republic Day celebration in Zunheboto.

Altogether, a total of ten parade contingents participated in the march past led by parade commander, Assistant Commandant of 8 NAP Naltoqa, KP Lotha.

Cultural item was presented by women group from Natha new village. A song was also presented by Zhimokali K Rotokha.

Longleng: Advisor of Youth Resources and Sports, S Keoshu Yimchunger, was the special guest of the Republic Day celebration held at Longleng public ground. He unfurled the national flag and took salute from six parade contingents.

The highlights of the programme included folk dance by Orangkong village and folk song by Yachem students.

The special guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls.

Tuensang: The Republic Day celebration in Tuensang was held at Parade Ground with the advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan as the chief guest.

The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took salute from eight parade contingents.

Cultural presentations were performed by Changen cultural troupe, Sangli culture troupe, Khiamniungan cultural troupe, Kemifu cultural troupe and Tikhir women dancing troupe during the programme. A special presentation was also performed by Jazz band from 29th Assam Rifles.

The best farmer awards were also presented to Ayenmongba from Chendang village and Lirichem from Mangangki village.

The chief guest also inaugurated exhibition stall set up by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), District Election Office, Department of Health and Family Welfare, State Bank of India, Land Resources, Soil and water Conservation, PHED, Veterinary, Horticulture, KVK, Co- Operative and Forest Department.

Kiphire: The Republic Day celebration was observed in Kiphire town with the advisor of Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guards and Civil Defence, S Kiusumew Yimchunger, as the special guest.

The advisor hoisted the national flag and took the Rashtriya salute from the parade contingents.

The special guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls organised by Agri and allied and other departments.

As part of the celebration, Tikhir Women Union from Kiphire town presented a cultural folk dance. Songs were presented by Leochum V Thonger and Marlen.

Mon: The Republic Day celebration in Mon was held at Mon public ground with the minister of Housing and Mechanical Engineering, P Bashangmongba Chang, as the special guest.

The special guest unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya salute from eight parade continents.

Other highlights of day included a song presentation by Yangman Konyak, duet by Atzing K Naga and Wangchem Konyak. It also witnessed patriotic dances performed by students of Mon Vale College, GHSS, Mon, and culture dance by women cultural troupe and Mopong Hongkong Union, Mon town.

Peren: Peren celebrated the Republic Day at its district headquarters with the deputy chief minister, Y Patton, as the special guest.

Patton unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya salute from seven parade contingents.

Cultural items were performed by cultural troupe from Kezanglwa, GHS DC Colony and Peren Students’ Union. The special guest also inaugurated exhibition stalls set up by different departments.

Noklak: Minister of Road and Bridges, G Kaito Aye, unfurled the national flag at Noklak public ground on the occasion of Republic Day celebration and took the Rashtriya salute from seven contingents.

Other highlights of the day included cultural dance presentation by village guards, and display of bow and arrow and toy spinning by Khiamniungan Sports Council. A song was also presented by Miraculum Society, Noklak.

To mark the occasion, various departments led by the district administration visited District Hospital and Adora Children’s Home.

A tug-of-war game between All Ward Union of Noklak versus Dobashis/ GBs and a volleyball exhibition match were organised on the occasion.

Tseminyu: Republic Day celebration in Tseminyu was held at Rengma Sports Association Ground in Tseminyu town with the minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Village Guards, CL John, as the special guest.

The minister unfurled the national flag and took Rashtriya salute from five parade contingents.

The highlights of the programme included presentation of cultural song by La Kethyulogwa of Tseminyu village and song by Akenyu Semp.

The minister also inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by various departments.

Chümoukedima: Minister of Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, attended the Republic Day celebration in Chümoukedima. She unfurled the national flag and inspected the parade contingents.

On the occasion, folk dances were performed by Kuki and Phom cultural troupes.

The minister also inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by the department of Agri and allied sectors.

Niuland: Niuland celebrated the Republic Day with the advisor of Industries and Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu, as the special guest. She unfurled the national lag and took Rashtriya salute from five parade contingents under the command of Imotemjen Jamir, deputy superintendent of police, Niuland.

The advisory also inaugurated the exhibition stalls.

The programme witnessed special presentation by InSync Taekwondo Academy and Band display by 7 Assam Rifles and folk dances.

Shamator: Advisor of IT and C, Economics and Statistics, and Evaluation, Sethrongkyu, hoisted the national flag on the occasion of Republic Day celebration in Shamator town. He also inspected the parade contingents.

Highlights of the programme included presentations of patriotic song by Yantsula K, Taekwondo demonstration by Shamator district taekwondo association and inauguration of exhibition stalls by the special guest.

Sub-divisions including Meluri, Bhandari, Sanis, Tening, Longkhim, Chozuba, Tamlu, Tuli, Pfutsero, Tizit, Thonoknyu, Wakching, Jakhama, Satakha, Jalukie, Pughoboto, Changtongya, Tobu, Seyochung, Aboi, Pungro, Chiephobozou, Medziphema, Akuluto, Mangkolemba, Nagaland House in New Delhi observed the Republic Day celebrations.

AR: To commemorate the Republic Day celebration, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Friends on Wheels, a bikers group from Dimapur, organised a bike rally in Ghaspani on the theme ‘Say no to drugs.’

An update from the Assam Rifles stated that the rally was aimed at combating drug abuse and promoting a healthier community.

The rally commenced at Clock Tower in Dimapur, which was flagged off by Brig. SK Shukla, commander 6 Sect AR.

It stated the bikers attended the tricolor hoisting at Kukidolong. The rally culminated at Medziphema football ground, where the final match of Ghaspani football championship was conducted.

A total of 38 riders participated in the rally.

Educational institutions including Livingstone Foundation International College (LFIC), The Global Open University (TGOU), Ram Janaki Higher Secondary School (RJHSS), Sainik School Punglwa (SSP), Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS), North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) also celebrated the Republic Day.
