Imphal, June 10 (EMN): Manipur Legislative Assembly secretariat on Monday said that the news published in local media in Imphal, alleging that some Bihar MLAs were captured in camera while dancing with girls, was “misleading” as the persons shown as MLAs of Bihar were neither legislators nor officials of Bihar Legislative Assembly.
Reports in few local media alleged that the MLAs were found to be dancing with the girls at a room in the border town on Myanmar. The MLAs, who are the members of the Committee on Internal Resource and Central Assistance of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, visited Manipur recently.
RJD MLA Yaduwanch Kumar Yadav led the four member team which include BJP MLA Sachin Prasad Singh, JD (U) MLA Raj Kumar Rai, RJD MLA Shivachandra Ram visited Indo-Myanmar border town on June 1, the report claimed.
An evening newspaper carried the news on Sunday while some local dailies on the following day (Monday). A video in connection with the news also went viral in social media.
“The news report was aimed at tarnishing the image of the visiting VIPs and Manipur Legislative Assembly,” PRO of Manipur Assembly said on the statement issued to media on Monday.
“The officials of the Manipur Legislative Assembly secretariat who accompanied the visiting committee provided only the protocol assistance to the visiting MLAs and was not related with any activities as was reported in the media as well as those uploaded in social media,” it clarified.
The members of the committee visited Manipur during their official tour from May 31-June 3, the statement added.
