DIMAPUR, JUNE 17: In response to the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee’s (NPCC) slight about the state assembly’s frequent and similar “resolutions” on the Naga political issue, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has hit back saying that the Congress was “panicking” because the government of India and the NSCN (IM) were now “seriously inching to a political solution.”
The ruling party issued a response to the Congress on Friday. The statement said to “clarify some of the contentions” raised by the NPCC.
“The NPCC statement is full of contradictions that they seem to be confused of what they actually want to convey. NPCC appears to be panicking since government of India and the NSCN (IM) is seriously inching to a political solution. All through this while, the NPCC is known for opposing any political solution to the Indo-Naga political issue,” the NPF’s “press bureau” stated.

The statement of the Congress is “a clear indication that they do not believe in the present peace process and political solution of the Naga political issue,” the NPF remarked. “How the NPCC can ridicule the resolution passed by the NLF when entire Naga people are yearning for an early solution to the Naga political issue. Why can’t they appreciate all the legislators having come together for the sake of solving the Naga political issue?”

Claiming that the statement of the NPCC had “exposed that they are not interested for solution of the Naga political issue,” the regional party asserted that “if election is to be held tomorrow they can foresee that Naga people will out rightly reject them again and for that reason they are only making noise out of desperation.”

On the matter of “going to Delhi” or using state resources “while pursuing the Naga political issue,” the NPF explained that it “in no way be misconstrued as wastage of time and money, because Naga political issue is so dear to the entire Nagas.”
Further, the party stated that “whatever may be the pressure from the NPCC, the NLF should only remain facilitators and should not commit mistake by becoming a part of the negotiating team.”
The NPF has urged the “NLF” to “steadfastly support” the ongoing “peace” process and the “framework agreement without any iota of doubt.”

“The NPF meanwhile urge the NPCC to come out openly whether the stand for solution to the Naga political issue or they still want to let the problem continue without any logical conclusion?” the NPF added.
