Rengma Wrestling Association launched in Tseminyu
NWA officials, coaches and wrestlers after the launching of the Rengma Wrestling Association at town hall, Tseminyu, on Monday.

DIMAPUR — The launching of the Rengma Wrestling Association (RWA)-cum-10-day long intensive wrestling training camp 2024 under the patronage of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) was held at town hall, Tseminyu, on Monday.

Addressing the inaugural session of the training camp, NWA president Vivolie Kezo stressed on the importance of wrestling, a traditional sport practiced by Naga forefathers since times immemorial, an update stated.

Kezo shared on the formation of the RWA and conveyed gratitude to all those involved in formation of the association.

He informed that the Asian Belt Wrestling Championship is scheduled to be held in Kohima from Nov. 17 to the 23rd, where two countries from Africa, three from Europe and more than 20 countries from Asia have already confirmed their participation.

He also said that the Naga Style of wrestling is all set to be included as medal event during the championship, and urged upon the Regma youth to prepare and be part of championship.

Additionally, he extended invitation to the RWA to be part of the forthcoming 17th International Naga Wrestling Championship 2024, tentatively scheduled on December 4 at Khouchiezie, Kohima.

Prominent wrestlers including Kevizhakho Suokhrie, Besuveto Cümu and Kedingau were assigned as coaches and trainers for the 10-day camp.

Rengma Wrestling Association president, Rhuchuyhung Seb expressed confidence that through the intensive training camp, Rengma wrestlers will be motivated and eventually catch up with the rest of the Nagas.

Vice president of Rengma Sports Association, S Akhu Kath also spoke on the occasion.
