[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Rengma students are unhappy at what they called the “backwardness act” of an individual who “randomly” felled a tree that purportedly damaged an important power line feeding several regions in Tseminyu and Wokha district.
The Rengma Students’ Union issued a note on Tuesday expressing resentment that there has been no power in several regions in the subdivision and the district and during a time when students were preparing for their high school and higher secondary board examinations.“The Rengma Students’ Union condemns the backwardness act of an individual Longsa area under Wokha district who without any second thought chopped down a tree randomly and consequently falls upon the 33 KV feeder line Tseminyu which interrupted total power supply to the entire Tseminyu, Pughoboto subdivision an d Wozhero range under Wokha district,” the students’ organization stated in the note.
The organization explained that there has been absolute blackout in the stated areas since January 30. “At the moment, thousands of students who are preparing for HSLC and HSSLC are the most affected groups followed by educated young entrepreneurs who have taken loan from banks for their business establishment who solely depends on regular power supply,” the organization stated.
The students union has appealed to the authorities to “immediately restore” the power feeder at the earliest for the benefit of the public and the students community particularly.
