Reminder of the dangers of unbridled immigration EMN DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 1 Survival Nagaland, a local youth group remembers the 10th anniversary of the infamous October 2, 2004 series of bomb blasts, set off allegedly by illegal Bangladeshi immigrants at the Dimapur railway station, Hong Kong market, and New Market. Survival Nagaland, a group that came into being as part of efforts to fight illegal immigrants in the state, issued a message on Wednesday recalling the serial blasts that took scores of lives and left many injured. “It will always remain as one of the most ill-fated and saddest day in the memory of all the Nagas. All the ten convicted were arrested by the police and were awarded life-term of which two of them died in jail while the remaining eight of them are presently lodged in the Dimapur sub-jail,” the group stated in the message. The group said it was “good” that no lawyer from the Dimapur Bar Association stood up in defense of the accused. “Such crimes and acts upon humanity should never be shielded or protected. From such kinds of acts the Nagas should be aware of up to what extent they are capable of to harm our people and society and Nagas can no longer remain to be afraid that such things will happen to us in future and let our land and generation slowly go away in their hands before our eyes. Survival Nagaland stated “If any individual or organization feels that our land belongs to us and it is our God-given bounden duty to protect and preserve it for our coming generations, then all should stand united from the silent invasion of these illegal Bangladeshi immigrants who has a devious plan to overtake our land by their population.” The group prays in memory of all those who lost their lives and their families that God give them solace.
