Kohima, Nov. 5 (EMN): Reigning Miss Phek, Shefüvi Pfithu initiated a one day skill training programme on dish wash, handwash and detergent making at the historic Matikhrü village in Meluri sub-division under Phek district on Nov. 5.

An update issued on Nov. 5 informed that the training was initiated with a vision to help the uneducated women learn about women empowerment and self sustainability.

The programme is said to be an initiative under the project “beauty with a purpose” with theme “sustainability in self efficiency: Embracing womanhood” and supported by Vogue Entertainment Nagaland.

The beauty queen, Pfithu said the purpose of the project was to help unemployed women in the community to impart skills which can generate income in a sustainable way and also let them understand women empowerment, unity and teamwork.

She said, “we as title holders aren’t just girls with makeup and attending occasions but rather we are women where we take up the responsibility to learn and help the society.”

Pfithu informed that she had planned to teach and educate at least 50 unemployed and uneducated mothers in her village but was affected due to the harvesting season, wherein many women folk couldn’t turn up, however stated that 12 women were trained.

While acknowledging the patrons for supporting the initiative of the project, Pfithu said that the team would produce the products in quantity in order to sell the dish wash, hand wash and detergent in the neighbouring town.

She added, along with her team and Pochury Students’ Union, it would sell the products in the nearby town, Meluri in collaboration with women associations and other NGOs.

It was informed that the sell proceed would be given to women who had attended the training so as to encourage them further.
