The Bharatiya Janata Party of Nagaland State and Arunachal has warned BJP workers in Phek district against dissidence.
General Secretary Prasant Arora has clarified the public statements issued by sections of ‘so called BJP workers of Phek district’. These unit workers are said to be ‘challenging the authority of the state president and demanding him to step down,’ the party’s top brass stated. In a press release issued on Thursday, Arora has warned BJP members against going to the media to highlight internal party matters.
The BJP leader has sent out a strong message that the state unit’s president will remain in office till such time the organization’s elections are conducted and that he enjoys the confidence of the national BJP president.
The general secretary also reminded that by convention or constitution, the state’s BJP president was the only competent authority in the state to appoint or relieve any of the office bearers and the district presidents. Therefore, Arora said, the appointment of Eduzu Theluo as the president of BJP Phek district unit was constitutional.
The official also reminded that the membership drive meeting for Phek district which was held on January 19 was a part of the national membership program initiated by the state level membership drive convener and co-convener.
He has cautioned anybody interfering in the exercise; severe action will be taken and any public statement whether in print or electronic media by dissident groups of BJP Phek district shall be viewed as anti-party and appropriate action will be initiated.

Nagaland BJP’s first president rejoins party

Pius Lotha, the first president of the state’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) way back during 1991-1993, is back in the fold of BJP.
An advocate by profession, Lotha was the president of the state unit when the BJP was first instituted in 1987.
The arrival of the veteran unit leader was formally announced at a press conference organized by BJP workers at their office located at Super market in Dimapur on Thursday.
Pius Lotha returned to be an active politician as a general member of the party after nearly two decades. He explained that his decision to rejoin politics came after what he claimed was the ‘dynamic performance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi especially in the economic development when other leaders have failed to do so.’
Having extended legal aid to the BJP party as an advocate before, Lotha hoped that his participation in the fold of the BJP will strengthen the organization. He maintained that his experience from Modi as the PM had been ‘overwhelming’ as much it was for the country. Through Narendra Modi’s leadership, Lotha expressed belief that Nagaland can ensure economic development.
Referring to the initial stages of the BJP’s development in Nagaland, Lotha said the party was branded a Hindu party by the people of the state.
He claimed that the statement was ‘absolutely not true.’ Now people would want to join only the progressive party, he claimed and appealed to all ‘likeminded’ to join the BJP. Together Nagaland can be closer to economic development with the rest of the country, he said.
The homecoming of Pius Lotha in the party was held together with the membership drive of the BJP in Dimapur district where 7, 000 new members are said to have joined the party
