Redmi 12 5G with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 launched in India
DIMAPUR — Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi, just launched its latest budget Android device in India called the Redmi 12 5G.
The new Redmi 12 5G is an upgraded 5G-enabled version of the Redmi 12 smartphone launched in the country just last month. The device is identical to its non-5G sibling except for the SoC and cameras. The new Redmi 12 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 which the company claims is the first device in India to use the 4nm processor. The older Redmi 12 used the less-powerful Mediatek Helio G88 as its processor.
The device features a 6.79-inch Full HD+ LCD with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Also, there is a 5,000 mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging. In terms of photography capabilities, the Redmi 12 5G uses 50MP f/1.8 as its main sensor paired with a 2MP f/2.4 macro lens. There is an 8MP front-facing camera on the front for selfie duties.
Operating on MIUI 14, built on the reliable Android 13 platform, the Redmi 12 5G promises a smooth and user-friendly interface, enhancing the overall user experience. The device marks a significant change in design with its stunning glass back, making it the first-ever Redmi number series to feature this aesthetic touch. Moreover, the phone impressively maintains a slim profile, measuring just below 8.2 mm in thickness.

The Redmi 12 5G also ensures basic IP53 protection, safeguarding it against dust and splashes. The smartphone comes in three attractive colour options, namely Jade Black, Pastel Blue, and Moonstone Silver, catering to different style preferences.
Xiaomi is offering an early-bird discount, making the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant available for an attractive price of INR 10,999. For users who need more power and storage, the 6GB RAM and 128GB version are available at INR 12,499. The top-of-the-line variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at INR 14,499.
