ReDimension Games from Nagaland joins the 1st cohort of Krafton India Gaming Incubator

KOHIMA — ReDimension Games from Nagaland has been selected for the South Korean Krafton incubator’s programme. The Kohima-based game development studio is one of the two start-ups in India to have been selected by Krafton for its inaugural cohort of the Krafton India Gaming Incubator (KIGI).

The other chosen start-up was Shura Games from Bengaluru.

The investment included fund for game development ranging between 50k and 150k USD for a specific period. The two start-ups game developers incubated will also receive mentoring for six months to a year.

“The investment is quite significant for a small team like ours. Game development is expensive and the funds certainly help,” Pekrukhrietuo Pienyu, co-founder of ReDimension Games told Eastern Mirror.

“Apart from that, being partnered with a global brand like Krafton certainly has its own benefits such as valuable mentorship and support,” he said speaking of the benefits that come along with the investment.

With the investment, he said, they can now have the resources to be able to hire a few more people. Currently, they have nine persons in the team.

He maintained that they have been able to create a few jobs for the local market with the funding. The funds allow them to be a little more ambitious with their goals.

The biggest challenge for them was a lack of resources including funds and others.

“Hiring more employees, third-party collaborators, procurements of new computers/equipment etc., costs a lot of money,” he said while adding the funds are primarily used for the various game development expenses.

Giving update on their currently developing game ‘Sojourn Past,’ he said the work is in progressing. The company has recently hired more people and more news could be expected.

Notably, their game Sojourn Past, which is still at a developing stage, had won the “Upcoming game of the year award” category at the 15th edition of India Game Developer Conference (IGDC) at an August gathering held at HICC, Hyderabad, in November last year.

The ReDimension Games will also be participating at the Global Games Developer’s Conference to be held from March 18 to the 22nd at San Francisco, US.

“I’m really excited to show off our game to a global audience,” he said of the team’s participation at the game conference.

He further expressed hope for a productive event both from a company’s perspective as well as on a personal level.

Formed in 2018, the ReDimension Games was co-founded by three members namely Pekrukhrietuo Pienyu (programming and design); Imlijungshi (art and animation) and Loyievi (music composer).
