‘Red Run’ marathon held in Phek to mark International Youth Day
In commemoration of International Youth Day, a marathon race called ‘Red Run’ was held in Phek district on August 12 as part of the ‘youth fest’, which was organised by DAPCU and supported by NSACS under the theme ‘youth for HIV’.
DIMAPUR — In commemoration of International Youth Day, a marathon race called ‘Red Run’ was held in Phek district on August 12 as part of the ‘youth fest’, which was organised by DAPCU and supported by NSACS under the theme ‘youth for HIV’.
Wutsutho Nyuthe, DSO, Phek, flagged off the race.
In his address to the participants, he encouraged them to adopt a healthy lifestyle and stay fit in order to have a sound mind and body and to refrain from engaging in risky behaviours such as alcohol, drugs, and sex, which invite HIV/AIDS.
He also encouraged them to be agents of change in the fight against HIV/AIDS by raising community awareness.
Kuduvo Kezo, DPO DAPCU, also gave a short speech on the occasion.
Vekhruto Nienu won first place in the male category in the marathon, while Hekhu Tsory and Pothito Tetseo finished second and third, respectively. In the female category, Vemuzholu Keyho won the first prize, while Zhomunulu Vese and Mhashevelu won the second and third prizes, respectively.
Altogether, ten male and eight female red ribbon club members from Phek Government College competed in the youth fest marathon race.
