A 10-kilometre Red Run marathon was held in Mon to raise HIV and AIDS awareness, with 128 youth participating and winners awarded.

DIMAPUR — A 10-kilometre Red Run marathon was organised in Mon on Saturday by the District Integrated Strategy for HIV/AIDS (DISHA), with support from the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society.
According to an update, the race began at the local ground, proceeded to the DIET centre, and then returned to the starting location. The event was open to all interested participants, with 128 enrolled between the ages of 17 and 25.
The race began with a word of prayer by Panlang, chairman of the Prayer Committee, Zaklom Fellowship KBCM, and was flagged off by Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, SP Mon, at 5:40 am.

Nahzei S Konyak took first position in the male category, followed by T Manlang Konyak in second place and Wangtho C Wangsa in third. First place in the female category went to T Phenjen Konyak, followed by Hanna Konyak and Wanjen C Konyak.
The winners were rewarded with prize money and a certificate signed by the CMO and DPO of DISHA, while the remaining participants also received a certificate of gratitude.
Following the run, Dr. Wungyong Konyak, district programme officer (Reproductive and Child Health and Universal Immunisation Programme), remarked that the marathon was not only about health but also about raising awareness. He stated that each participant had become an ambassador to educate people about HIV and AIDS.
He also mentioned that taking 7,000 steps per day reduces the risk of numerous diseases and sudden death. He also commended all the winners and participants for their efforts towards the cause.
