Reception Committee formed for Karbi Youth Festival
DIPHU — Meeting for formation of Reception Committee (RC) for the forthcoming golden jubilee celebration of the Karbi Youth Festival (KYF), one of the oldest ethnic festival of Northeast India, was held at Karbi People’s Hall, Taralangso in Diphu on Friday.
The festival will be held from Jan. 12, 2024 to the 19th where President of India, Droupadi Murmu, will be attending the festival as special guest.
The annual KYF is hosted by the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) to showcase the rich culture, language and traditions of the Karbis. The meeting was chaired by the president, KCS Chandrasing Kro and the object of the meeting was explained by the general secretary Bidyasing Rongpi.
The meeting witnessed the presence of Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang; MP Horensing Bey; MLAs; Executive Member (EMs), KAAC; MACs including District Commissioner Madhumita Bhagawati and SP of Karbi Anglong Sanjib Kumar Saikia and former KCS members and senior citizens cutting across party lines.
After a threadbare discussion, the house appointed MLA Bidyasing Engleng as the president and EM, KAAC Richard Tokbi as the general secretary, while CEM Ronghang, MP Bey including DC and SP were made as advisers.
Kro appealed to all to extend their cooperation and support inorder to host the festival with a peaceful manner.
