The NPCC said the ongoing political crisis in the State is a grim reminder for the people of Nagaland for what they are destined, to reap what they have sown during the last three successive Assembly elections. Stating that elections in the state have become so vexed and corrupt that nothing good can come out of its aftermath, Joshua Sumi, member secretary, Political Affairs Committee (PAC), NPCC, in a release today, said the sequence of crisis that has plagued the State with successive plan holidays, non release of salary to employees, record rate of corruption have paralyzed the State. Therefore, the present political crisis rocking the State is not accidental but out of willful act made by the citizens of Nagaland, the NPCC stated.
It said having observed the pathetic performance of the NPF government in all respects and knowing the lack of culture and integrity, the so-called mandate was given to the NPF for the third successive time. “Out of 60 legislators in the State Assembly, NPF-led DAN with 52 members was expected to give stability within the given tenure but a jumbo sized ministry was installed despite deep financial crisis faced by the State,” the NPCC said. “Unfortunately, after 2 years of sailing the rotten boat, it could not proceed further not because of external interference but bogged down by its own internal bickering and discord,” it stated.
The State Congress went on to state that the ongoing crisis is nothing less than the lack of leadership, lack of discipline, lack of sense of duty and above all selfishness have ultimately crippled every sphere of governance. “Even if the present crisis calms down by a compromise or through horse trading and decimation out of coercion, it would be the same old wine in a new bottle which cannot give better taste. Under any circumstances, the people of Nagaland will continue to suffer under the regime of NPF,” it said.
“Despite its utter failure to bring nothing except adding 12 years of dormancy to 18 years of Naga political peace process, it is unwise and senseless for the NPF and partners to reiterate the promise of bringing early political solution,” the Congress said.
The NPCC sought to know is it not ridiculous that when the NPF is having so much problems of its own to be resolved, will they ever give importance to the problems of the people. In every election and in any crisis, the NPF and its allies have the habit of promising solution to the protracted Naga political issue as if it could be sincere with such promise, it added.
The Congress further asked Nagaland BJP as to what role BJP is playing as partner of NPF in the present crisis. Just the other day, the Nagaland BJP has officially announced its support to the dissident leader G Kaito Aye while today it has appealed to both the NPF camps to arrive at an amicable solution, it pointed out. “What logic is the state BJP talking about when its actual colour is exhibited before the people?” the Congress asked.
