RD officers urged to be equip themselves to meet emerging challenges

Dimapur, Oct. 22 (EMN): Rural Development minister, Metsubo Jamir, has directed the department officers particularly the project directors and block development officers (BDO) to be conversant with the scheme guidelines and directions issued by the ministries in order to equip themselves with the emerging challenges.

Jamir said this during a review meeting on rural development programmes with all the project directors of DRDA and BDO held under the leadership of RD director, Liboni Humtsoe, on October 21, an update from the RD department stated. Jamir called upon the officers to reorganise and re-energise to improve the performance of the department.

He also asked the officers to give importance in attending such meetings whenever called upon for a thorough discussion on challenges and threats faced by them while implementing the schemes and to place appropriate corrective measures wherever required.

Besides, Jamir also stressed on the need of the BDO to visit their respective fields regularly for effective planning and implementation thereby helping the villages to grow and to submit the timely visit reports to the directorate every month. He further advised the BDO to be sincere and be in their respective place of posting so as to perform their duties satisfactorily and on time.

It stated that the project directors of DRDA Dimapur, Mokokchung, Phek, Tuensang, Zunheboto, Kohima and the NSRLM mission director have presented an overview of the status of work implementation on the various programmes of their respective districts.

On the same day, the minister also inaugurated the newly constructed Nagaland Rural Development Service Association (NRDSA) transit building at the directorate complex, which was constructed and completed to commemorate the NRDSA silver jubilee.
