KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 3

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he 7th foundation day celebration-cum-cultural day of Model Christian College (MCC), Kohima was held today with Minister for Rural Development & REPA, CL John as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister called upon the students to be practical educationists and not just theoretical, adding that their knowledge should be able to fit into the system of our (Naga) society and culture. He further added that maximum benefit should be derived from the educated people, as he felt it is this category of people who should be in the forefront to lead our society.
“Due to lack of dignity of labour in the society, our economic resources are being drained out to other states,” he lamented.
The Minister also stated that in view of inter-tribal and different dialect, our desire to become a strong state has been a futile exercise. To this, he urged the younger generation to promote oneness and foster better relations irrespective of the differences in dialect and ways of living. The programme was also graced by Director of Technical Education Department, Athili Kathipri as the guest of honour.
Managing Director of the college, SP Francis delivered the welcome address, while MCC principal, Dr. Anthony V. Richa gave a brief account of the college activities.
The day was also marked by solo and duet competitions and Mr and Miss MCC contest.
