Dimapur, Feb. 19 (EMN): Rotary Club Kohima hosted Bhal Sekhar Chilana and his wife Namita from Rotary Club Navi Mumbai Sunrise for an awareness programme on organ donation at Hotel Japfu in Kohima on February 18.
Bhal Sekhar Chilana and Namita are travelling for 131 days to visit 131 cities of 28 states and eight union territories covering 22500 km with a mission to raise awareness among the masses across India on organ donation, an update from Rotary Club Kohima stated.
The president of Rotary Club Kohima, Kezhokhoto Savi welcomed the president of ‘The Cause Travelers Social Welfare Organisation’ Bhal Shekhar Chilana and Namita to Kohima.
Speaking at the programme, Chilana stated that they have planned to cover 28 states and eight union territories of India with an aim to educate people about the need and importance of organ donation. He also informed that they have set a target of 80,000 donors during the mission.
It stated that they started their journey on December 10, 2021, from Kharghar Navi Mumbai and could visit 69 cities of 14 states and two union territories in 65 days.
Also speaking at the programme, Namita stated that they undertook a similar mission for organ donation awareness across the globe by traveling from Mumbai to London in a car in 2018. She said it took 79 days covering 21 countries.
She further informed that they have donated their entire body for medical purposes with the slogan “Be a reason for other’s joy” and “Donate organs- save lives.”
Report also stated that the club had committed to take initiative in promoting and generating awareness on organ donation in Nagaland.
