Dimapur, Jan. 14 (EMN): Union Minister for Road and Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari has directed the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) to provide appropriate technical solutions in order to ensure that adequate slope protection measures are provided along the Dimapur to Kohima four-lane highway.

A Raj Bhavan press release on Tuesday informed that the minister’s directive was in response to a concern shared by Governor RN Ravi during their meeting in New Delhi.

Ravi, it stated, had reasoned with the minister that in absence of adequate slope protection measures along the Highway, the loose soil would lead to landslides especially during the monsoon season, causing disruption to traffic and even damage to the highway.

The objective of the meeting was to discuss the required measures for expediting NHIDCL projects in Nagaland, it informed.

“Governor Ravi thanked the Minister for positively responding to his request and setting up an exclusive Regional Office of NHIDCL in Kohima for closely monitoring the various projects under the corporation in Nagaland. Earlier it was being done from the regional office for the Northeast in Guwahati,” it added.
