Ravi meets bank officials to help Nagaland entrepreneurs

Dimapur, July 21 (EMN): With an aim to find ways and means to facilitate credit access to entrepreneurs and business people in Nagaland, Governor RN Ravi held a meeting with top officials of banks on Tuesday.

The meeting was held with officials of banks, including State Bank of India and Axis Bank at Raj Bhavan in Kohima, according to a press statement issued by PRO Raj Bhavan.

The bank officials expressed their problems in extending easy credit to entrepreneurs due to absence of institutionalised risk mitigation systems in the state including non-availability of mortgageable land outside Dimapur Municipality/Mauza, it stated.

While assuring the banks that the government would examine their suggestions and do the needful, the governor also urged them to be “pro-active in credit delivery with respect to collateral free loans under various schemes of the Government of India launched recently and spread awareness about them among our people”.

The governor is likely to hold a review meeting with banks in due course of time, it added.
